Rick K. Yamada, DDS

Dr. Yamada, a San Diego native, received his Bachelors degree in Biology from the University of California Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.) graduating cum laude. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Southern California (U.S.C.) graduating in the top 10% of his class. His residency training followed at The University of California Los Angeles (U.C.L.A.) Medical Center and he was appointed Chief Resident for his final year of training.

Dr. Yamada then began practicing as an associate with Dr. Roger Kingston and Dr. J. Michael Edwards in the North County of San Diego for 3 years. He subsequently opened his own office in La Jolla and has been in practice there since 1989.

Dr. Yamada has served as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the U.C.L.A. Medical Center and has been elected Chief of the Section of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. He has lectured nationally and internationally and is well recognized in his field.

Dr. Yamada currently holds medical staff privileges at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. He is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He maintains his certifications from the American Heart Association in both Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

When not working, Dr Yamada enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and daughter and traveling to explore new places.
